A new tech-term, “workplace telepressure,” was created by NIU psychology researchers Larissa Barber and Alecia Santuzzi through a new study on workplace telepressure and its implications, published in the Journal of Occupational Health Psychology. Barber and Santuzzi define the term as an urge to quickly respond to emails, texts and voicemails – regardless of whatever else is happening or whether one is even “at work.”  This preoccupation with work digital communication could lead to burnout and sleeping issues. ©Daily Chronicle

Farmer Bryan Flower, of Red Home Farm in Lee, opens the door to the hayloft of his barn that was originally purchased in the 1930's from a Sears catalog, during a tour of the farm he was giving his Northern Illinois University quantity food production class during a field trip on Friday, May 1, 2015.  In addition to farming the 12 acre farmette with his wife, Flower is a chef and the food systems lab coordinator at NIU.  The proposed DeKalb food hub interests him both from a seller and buyer standpoint. ©Daily Chronicle

Dave Waller, 63, was employed as an electrician by Morton Chemical Company of Ringwood for 28 years.  Waller died of complications from cancer a few hours after this photograph was taken.

Tim and Sandy Wierschke sit in their living room Friday with their dog Kasey in their home on Maple Hill Drive in McCullom Lake.  Sandy was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme in 2006, which she alleges in a lawsuit was caused by pollution from nearby manufacturer Rohm and Haas.  She was recently released from Lutheran General Hospital after a two-month stay and the couple drove to Philadelphia for the first day of Joanne Branham's trial.  Tim and Sandy have lived in McCullom Lake since 1993 and have been married for 22 years. ©Northwest Herald
